Tarantula Hill: Battle of the labels

On a sunny Sunday, July 16th, 2023, Tarantula Hill Brewery in Thousand Oaks, CA, transformed into a vibrant canvas for creativity as artists battled the heat to showcase their talent at the Second Battle for the Label event.

Summer 2023- Round Two

an immersive experience where live music, cold brews, and a diverse array of local artistry converged.

6 Local Artists

This time around, six talented artists were tasked with creating their own unique concept to be featured on the next seasonal brew. Each artist was given a 5'x 8' space on the back exterior wall, turning the brewery's back patio into an open-air gallery of breathtaking proportions.

Attending the Event

A burst of the senses. Local vendors and artists showcased their creations, ranging from captivating art and photography to intricate sculptures, jewelry, and an array of other merchandise. The ambiance was further enriched by live music acts spanning genres like hip-hop, reggae, and more, featuring talents such as rey_fresco, wordsaucecollective, and thedarkroom805.

The Main Attraction

Live murals painted by esteemed artists Kryst, Antho, Scrap, Mouserawk, Brian Cox, and others. Each artist gave their all into the 5'x 8' canvas, creating captivating compositions that spoke volumes about their individual styles.

Kryst  Emerged as the Winner of the Event

Proudly on Display

As the event drew to a close, the newly painted murals stood proudly on display, poised to adorn the brewery's walls for the next year. Each mural, completed with a blend of spray paint and brush strokes, tells a story of creativity, passion, and the vibrant soul of the Ventura county artistic community.

Conclusion

The Second Battle for the Label at Tarantula Hill Brewery was more than just an art event—it was a celebration of local artistic expression.
